Tonight, to kill time at work, I was reading back over some of my old columns from years ago, when I found this classic excerpt from my The Greatest Show on Earth column:

Ah, there’s nothing like the circus: mulleted, meth-addled carnies traveling from town to town, spreading disease, crime, and animal poop wherever they go. Perhaps my impression of the circus is incorrect, however, as narrator Cecil B. DeMille waxes poetic about the culture, strangely singling out cotton candy and carnies. Then, oddly, the narrator’s conceit shifts to a militaristic tone, as he intones that the circus is actually in the process of conquering North America, like a great mechanized army, with Death following closely behind. So it’s the Goering & Goebbels Circus, featuring the Rommel cavalcade? Those aren’t elephants, they’re Panzers!

Look! I have a towel!

It’s apparently Towel Day and Geek Pride Day (is it coincidence that they coincide or is that by design?), so I’m prepared … with a towel. I’m always a geek, so that’s hard to avoid.

It’s been a while since I did one of these brain barf posts, so I might be out of practice. Life in Brooklyn has been pretty decent so far and a crazy whirlwind at worst. Now I just have to start making the most of it. Challenging myself, joining clubs and/or groups — unfortunately, I have no interest in improv and not just because it seems like it’s the cool, hip thing to do and everyone’s doing it; plus, I’m a rebel and don’t want anyone telling me how to be funny … or I’m petulant and willful … I don’t know which one — and just extending myself to the best of my ability.

I need to start working on my second (and third … I have another AWESOME IDEA (TM)) screenplay.

I’m a ninja. (I just wanted to make sure you were paying attention.)

Isn’t my beard awesome? Yeah … it’s awesome.
